Why drop the box?

My blog is hosted on a remote server. To manage my blogs, I need to login to the server first. But what if I do not have any SSH tools at hand?

I think Dropbox may be a good tool to bring more convenience to Hexo blogging. Therefore I start to configure it.

How to drop the box?

To use Dropbox access the remote server, just set it up and link the folder containing your web contents. You need to install Dropbox daemon on your server. If you are using Linux, you can try either nautilus-dropbox (if nautilus is installed) or just Dropbox commond line interface.

By default, Dropbox daemon will create a folder Dropbox in your $HOME/. To point it to your web content folder, just create a symbolic link under Dropbox directory pointing to the web content folder.

Done!

Wait for the sync to be completed, and then you can manage your blogs remotely and geekily

Effect of the drop?

If you are reading this blog, you know it is successful :)

Lessons learned during the drop

My remote server is syncing with my laptop (in most cases running windows). In the beginning I also include the hexo executable bin folder in my Dropbox, but the executable file keeps losing its executable property (then it is a file only :). Therefore, it is recommended to exclude the executable files in your Dropbox.

Drop a file, enjoy your life.
